Glenn Beck Doesn't Know the Difference Between a Coup and an Election

The definition of the word 'coup d'`etat' is as follows: The sudden overthrow of a government by a usually small group of persons in or previously in positions of authority. Further, a coup d'`etat is the taking of power, usually from a militant group of from members within the government. Now for the definition of 'democracy': 1. government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system. Normally, one would learn these terms in history class in middle school and be able to differentiate between the two. That is, if you’re Glenn Beck.

On his nationally syndicated radio show on Monday, Beck proved that not only he sucks at spelling, but that he thinks that an election and a coup are one and the same....when a Democrat is in charge, that is (Hat Tip: Media Matters.)

BECK: If I could just -- if we could just be like Cuba. Let me give you the last piece of evidence that there is a revolution going on, and it is coming. It is -- there is a revolution, and they think they can get away with it quietly.

They think they -- and they -- they -- you know what? At this point, gang, I'm not sure, they may be able to because they are so far ahead of us. They know what they're dealing against; most of America does not yet. Most of America doesn't have a clue as to what's going on. There is a coup going on. There is a stealing of America, and the way it is done, it has been done through the -- the guise of an election, but they lied to us the entire time.

Some of us knew! Some of us we're shouting out, you were: "this guy's a Marxist!" "No, no, no, no, no, no." And they're gonna say, "we did it democratically," and they are going to grab power every way they can. And God help us in an emergency.

Glenn, that's just not possible. A coup would require a small group of individuals within the previous government to suddenly take out the current leader, control the airwaves or some form of media, and announce that the old regime has been overthrown and that they are now in control of the White House....unless you're suggesting that members of the previous administration secretly overthrew Bush and Cheney and installed Barack Obama and Joe Biden (and I highly doubt that there were Bush officials disgruntled to the point where they'd install two liberal Democrats from the U.S. Senate to run the White House), and that last year's historic election was manipulated by said officials, the DNC, ACORN, the "liberal media," the ballot-counters, the city officials, the election-day volunteers...basically, that a massive and secretive groundswell of disgruntled men and women who believed in the cause of the officials would have been able to pull that kind of a con-job.

Normally, any thinking, rational individual who heard that kind of jaw-dropping nonsense on the radio would literally call Glenn and bluntly say, "are you f**king mad?!" but Beck knows that his audience isn't that bright and will take him word-for-word without cracking open a dictionary, let alone a history book.
