O’Reilly’s Comments On Franken’s Swearing In

On July 6th (a little late, because he was on vacation when the news broke), O’Reilly said, “In a sad day for America, Al Franken is now a U.S. Senator . . . Franken is a blatantly dishonest individual, a far left zealot who is not qualified to hold any office, a man who trafficked in hate on his failed Air America radio program . . . .” With video, courtesy of Crooks and Liars.

Not a lot of love lost, there, huh?

For those who don’t recall, C&L also has video of the Franken/O’Reilly confrontation at the 2003 BookWorld Expo in which O’Reilly sat morosely on the dais as Franken “outed” O’Reilly publicly, and publicly ridiculed him, for falsely claiming that his former show, Inside Edition, had won two Peabody awards when it had really won the less prestigious Polk awards and after O'Reilly left the show. Speaking after Franken at the BookExpo, O’Reilly was clearly seething, and claimed that he just “misspoke” -- which Franken wasn’t buying. The clip of O’Reilly furiously trying to stifle Franken is just a practice run for what O’Reilly now has perfected on The Factor.
