Are Glenn Beck and His Guest Terrorists?

Reported by Priscilla - July 2, 2009 -

Inquiring minds want to know. Yesterday, Glenn Beck interviewed former CIA analyst Michael Scheuer. In response to Beck’s question of whether government officials will “do the right thing,” Scheuer said no because (drum roll please) “the only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States.” Scheuer (who has been critical of past administrations’ policy towards Israel and the Islamic world) added, ”It’s gonna take a grassroots, bottom-up pressure because these politicians prize their offices, prize the praise of the media, and the Europeans. It's an absurd situation again, only Osama can execute an attack which will force Americans to demand that their government protect them effectively, consistently and with as much violence as necessary." So a nuclear attack, by Bin Laden, will save America? Beck nodded in agreement. So does this mean that Beck is a terrorist sympathizer? He is palling around with a terrorist?

Beck has gone beyond the looking glass into a strange world where talk of nuclear attacks, secession, and being “locked and loaded” when ACORN census volunteers show up is a good thing. There is rich irony in that it wasn’t too long ago that those who disagreed with Bush’s not so excellent adventure in Iraq were considered, by right wing world, to be “liberal traitors.” Sean Hannity asked if John Walker became a “traitor” because of his liberal upbringing. McCain supporters, at a rally, yelled “traitor” when McCain mentioned Barack Obama. Ann Coulter authored a screed about liberals that was titled “Treason.” Quite recently, Liz Cheney (on Fox) accused Obama of “siding with terrorists.” So here we have somebody saying that a nuclear bomb, lobbed by OBL, is necessary for an attitude readjustment. Yeah, right. Can you imagine the indignation of Glenn Beck, and his ilk, if – say – Chris Matthews interviewed Ward Churchell and agreed with his “little Eichmann” comment. As defined by the US Constitution, treason is defined as “giving aid and comfort” to the enemy. The “comfort” provided in Scheuer’s comments, isn’t exactly cold. But way to go, Glenn. Thanks for agreeing with somebody who wants me incinerated to prove a point. Fox News – “America’s Newsroom” indeed!
