Fox Nation Calls Al Franken "Stuart Smalley"

Reported by Ellen - June 14, 2009 -

Fox Nation, that Fox News website devoted to, in its own words, "enjoy(ing) the company and support of each other... while observing the basic rules of civility and mutual respect and, most importantly, strengthening our diverse society by striving for unity" and a commitment to "the core principles of tolerance, open debate, civil discourse--and fair and balanced coverage of the news" has on its front page the headline, "Stuart Smalley Needed To Pass Business-Killing Bill." It refers to Al Franken, the man who is quite likely to be the next U.S. Senator from Minnesota. It links to a far less inflammatory article on Newsmax, an admittedly conservative site that brags about being "the most effective way to reach America's affluent Republicans." And the "business-killing bill?" It's the Employee Free Choice Act, a/k/a "card check." The article says nothing about it killing business, merely that it "will make it easier for workers to unionize through open-ballot elections." In other words, Fox added the inflammatory, biased language on its own. Screen grab after the jump.
