Whle Underplaying Holocaust Museum Killing, Fox Suggests Obama Deliberately Insulted Israel

Reported by Ellen - June 11, 2009 -

Fox News barely covered the shooting of a Holocaust Museum guard during its prime time discussion shows last night. The O'Reilly Factor ignored it. So did Hannity. Greta Van Susteren's On The Record gave the story about a one-minute recap. Fox Nation has coverage but most of it is with regard to insinuating that conservatives are being unfairly fingered. But Fox Nation parades itself as some big friend to Israel when that happens to coincide with its own agenda, in this case attacking Obama. The reason this time is the trumped up attack that Obama insulted the country by putting his feet on his desk while talking on the phone to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Fox Nation states that Israelis saw the incident as "akin" to the reporter who threw his shoes at President Bush because in the Arab world, it's an insult to show the sole of your shoe to someone. "It is not a Jewish custom necessarily, but Israel feels enough a part of the Middle East after 60 years to be insulted too," the report states. Clicking through to the full article, on CBSNews.com, one discovers that the reactions (which came from Israeli newscasters, not, apparently from a public outcry) out of Israel may have a lot to do with their feeling "cornered" by the Obama administration which is attempting to force Israel to stop any kind of settlement activity in occupied territories.

But, not surprisingly, Fox Nation made it about Obama, not his policy.
