Fox Nation Asks If GOP Should “Listen” To Joe the Plumber’s Homophobia

Reported by Priscilla - May 6, 2009 -

The headline reads, “Joe the Plumber Unleashed! Should GOP Listen?” It links to Sam the unlicensed plumber’s interview with “Christianity Today” in which the GOP icon said that he doesn’t allow openly gay people “near his children” and that “queer” isn’t a slur (like honky) because, according to the dictionary, it means “strange and unusual.” (Excuse me?) “Joe” shared some of his theological views, too, in saying that “God is recognized as, if you will, America's religion.” (Huh?) He also thinks that Republicans haven’t been reaching out enough to evangelicals (Hello?). My answer to the question of the headline is a resounding “Yes” – the GOP should listen and fully adopt all the principals that “Joe” espouses which show that the “big tent” has shrunk and that it accommodates only a small group of ignorant, intolerant, white, evangelical Christians. That should really grow the party! And regarding children – I feel sorry for Sam’s kids as they are being raised in the “Christian” “Fox Nation” where hatred and fear are family values. But embrace him, GOP, and in 2010, that 21% will look real good!
