Still Not Revealing Her Husband's Role As Palin Advisor, Greta Van Susteren Spins Palin Approval Ratings

Reported by Ellen - March 19, 2009 -

Yesterday, we posted about the Washington Post's revelation that Greta Van Susteren's husband serves as an advisor to Sarah Palin, guidng her political image in Washington. Van Susteren not only failed to address that conflict of interest - important because of Van Susteren's near nightly and always favorable coverage of Palin - but Van Susteren seemed to be doing her part to help her husband by offering another gushing report, this time over Palin's poll numbers, that accentuated the positive and minimized the slow and steady erosion of her approval ratings. When Obama's poll numbers (supposedly) dip, it's a big negative on FOX but when Palin's dip, it's reported as a plus. With video.

In a show mostly filled with attacks on Democrats over AIG (and largely ignoring the role of the Bush administration), Van Susteren still found time to give Palin a little boost. Near the end of the show (but at the beginning of the segment), Van Susteren said, "How do Alaskans feel right now about their governor?"

As she spoke, a banner on the screen read, "Positive thinking."

"61% of Alaskans have a positive opinion of her," Van Susteren said. She continued with the details of the poll, noting briefly, "Governor Palin's negatives have increased" (actually, the negatives are up drastically since August, 2007) but Van Susteren immediately added, "but 61% positive is a number all politicians like."

Unless, of course, you're talking about Barack Obama on FOX.
