O'Reilly And Rove Upset Over “Far-Left Conspiracy”

Reported by Ellen - March 14, 2009 -

Politico has an article about what it calls “the new left-wing conspiracy” that begins, “The vast new left-wing conspiracy sets its tone every morning at 8:45 a.m., when officials from more than 20 labor, environmental and other Democratic-leaning groups dial into a private conference call hosted by two left-leaning Washington organizations.” Politico also noted that, “The call has proved particularly effective at coordinating attacks on critics.” For Bill O'Reilly, that meant that the group is an “intimidation cabal... armed with unlimited funds and unlimited hatered... This, ladies and gentlemen is a threat to America.” He went on to compare it to the Nixon “dirty tricks squad.” So he summoned Karl Rove, of all people, to help carry the "integrity in politics" banner. With video.

Instead of discussing it in the kind of “fair and balanced” way that FOX News always brags about doing, partisan Rove predictably turned the discussion into a double Democratic-bash session. Rove had the temerity to complain that the group would engage in “nastiness” though he acknowledged that it could be “very effective.” O'Reilly opined that the White House must be covertly involved somehow.

Rove also made the outrageously false claim that he never threatened anyone who disagreed with him.

“This is not the way a democracy is supposed to run,” O'Reilly complained, about the Democratic group, who had engaged in effective but honest oppo research. Sure it is, Bill. Citizens getting together for political action is exactly the way a democracy is supposed to run. It's the kind of political dirty tricks that Rove made his stock in trade that poison democracy.
