Whoopi Goldberg Gives O'Reilly A Talking To About Helen Thomas

Reported by Ellen - February 17, 2009 -

Bill O'Reilly is STILL obsessing about his "joke" comparing Helen Thomas to the Wicked Witch of the East which has caused something of a media to-do. So on tonight's (2/17/09) Factor, O'Reilly brought it up with guest Whoopi Goldberg. Goldberg told him, "If you're going to do a little humor, learn how to do it." With video.

"A lot of people thought that was very funny," O'Reilly told Goldberg.

"I'm sure they did," she replied. "But I think a lot of women really didn't."

"You thought I was over the line by making fun of Thomas," O'Reilly said.

"Yeah, I did. I did," Goldberg agreed. Goldberg said she thought O'Reilly had a valid point about the substance of Thomas' question at Barack Obama's press conference.

"Was I mean?" O'Reilly asked.

"I thought you were a little out of character mean, yeah," Goldberg told him.

O'Reilly immediately bristled. "The whole thing was a joke. So I made a joke out of it!"

"Mmm, OK," Goldberg said with a tone and a look that were priceless.

"Do you accept that?" O'Reilly asked.

"No," she answered.

Then they both laughed.

Bill, apologize to Helen Thomas already. You know it's the right thing to do and trust me, you'll feel so much better.

H/T to Media Matters for the video.
