Bill O'Reilly Mocks Helen Thomas, Says She's “Like The Wicked Witch of the East”

Reported by Ellen - February 10, 2009 -

Bill O'Reilly was certainly a pin head last night (2/9/09) when, during his analysis of Barack Obama's first presidential press conference, O'Reilly attacked veteran AP reporter Helen Thomas for no apparent reason. First, he began cawing in a mean-spirited imitation of her that he described as “like the Wicked Witch of the East.” Then, he said, “If I were Obama, I would have poured water on her and she'd dissolve.” O'Reilly carried the attacks into his next segment where Bernard Goldberg joined in the smearing. With video.

Guest Alan Colmes responded to O'Reilly's "wicked witch" comment by saying, “Alright, Bill. Please be nice to Helen Thomas.”

“No, I'm not,” O'Reilly answered.

In the next segment, with Bernard Goldberg, O'Reilly asked if he had been too mean to Thomas.

Instead of giving the veteran her due, the cowardly Goldberg made his own dig. “Helen Thomas' 15 minutes were up during the Lincoln administration,” he said.

O'Reilly chuckled.

“Maybe before that,” Goldberg, continued.

Very classy, guys.
