Biased Florida reporter gets fawning approving interview on FOX and Friends. Who'da thunk.

Reported by Chrish - October 28, 2008 -

Guess who showed up on FOX and Friends this morning for a little Republican rehab...no, not Ted Stevens, though we should see him soon. Barbara West, the reporter from WFTV in Florida who asked Joe Biden those "tough" questions that Steve Doocy keeps insisting Biden did not answer (transcript of answers below) was on to tell the world that she derived her own questions from concerns she heard from patrons of her husband's weekend charity fund-raising business. "Redistribution" of their wealth weighs heavily in her circles, apparently, so she asked what they are worried about.

Now that the Obama campaign has "iced" her station, had a "hissy fit" according to West, gone "ballistic" according to the Friends, what does it mean in the event of a future Obama administration? No tough "penetrating, probing" questions will be allowed, is the talking point, but she has the support of her superiors at that "hard news station."

Gretchen Carlson hinted around at underlying sexism (as she does since Palin came on the scene) on Joe Biden's part for wondering who wrote those questions (since they sounded like RNC talking points). Her cohorts on the couch (Peter Johnson Jr. filling in for Brian Kilmeade - way smarter but disappointing in that he dropped any semblance of objectivity and embraced said talking points) drilled the other aspects - redistribution of wealth fears, Obama camp can't take "tough" questions, etc. Carlson ended the segment congratulating West for her professionalism and Steve Doocy hoped she had no outstanding parking tickets, because the so-called liberal media is going to come after her.

Of course, forgotten is all the padding and insulation packed around the Republican VP candidate, who has had fewer interviews now than Joe the Plumber, and whose traveling press corps is under Secret Service guard so that they may not speak to any attendees at Palin events and perhaps get some unscripted tidbits. FOX went ballistic themselves at Katie Couric's probing, tough question "What newspapers do you read?"

And lest anyone not realize how partisan this interviewer West really is, watch her softball John McCain. Her questions to him are thinly-veiled attacks on Obama and more RNC talking points.

Her questions were unprofessional and biased, and Biden kept good humor, answered the questions, and then rightly decided to give the station no more of the campaign's precious time with which to smear the Obama campaign.

Here is the answer Steve Doocy keeps insisting Joe Biden never gave. The rest of the transcript, questions and answers, can be found at California Conservative (where the author is whining like FOX that the Obama camp can't take "tough" questions).

WEST: You may recognize this famous quote. From each according to his abilities to each according to his needs. That’s from Karl Marx. How is Sen. Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around?

BIDEN: Are you joking? Is this a joke?

WEST: No.

BIDEN: Is that a real question?

WEST: It’s a real question.

BIDEN: He is not spreading the wealth around. He is talking about giving the middle class an opportunity to get back the tax breaks they used to have. What has happened just this year is that the people making $1.4 million a year, the wealthiest 1%, good, decent American people, are gonna get an $87 billion tax cut. A new one on top of the one from last year. We think that the people getting that tax break and not redistribute the wealth up, should be the middle class. That’s what we think. It’s a ridiculous comparison with all due respect.
