FOX News "Democrat" Kirsten Powers Slams Biden

Reported by Ellen - October 22, 2008 -

We have noted many times how "Democrat" Kirsten Powers seems to go out of her way to bash Democrats when she's on FOX News. One might say she's making a career out of it. Now, in a column in today's New York Post (another News Corp. media outlet), she's echoing the latest conservative talking points on FOX by going after Joe Biden and complaining about left wing media bias that has prevented him from being attacked even more.

In her column, entitled, Biden's Bungles: A Blatant Bias, Powers writes:

Barack Obama's choice of Joe Biden as his running mate prompted a small wave of warnings about Biden's propensity for gaffes. But no one imagined even in a worse-case scenario such a spectacular bomb as telling donors Sunday to "gird your loins" because a young president Obama will be tested by an international crisis just like young President John Kennedy was.

Scary? You betcha! But somehow, not front-page news.

Again the media showed their incredible bias by giving scattered coverage of Biden's statements.

You'd think that any Democrat with an iota of interest in media bias might express some concern about the bias going on right under her nose on cable news -- or at least on FOX News with its endless focus on "unrepentant terrorist" William Ayers and its stream of puff pieces about Sarah Palin. Alan Colmes, for example, while never criticizing any media outlet in particular, has frequently noted the disparate coverage of Obama's "radical associations" vs. McCain's. But apparently, that's too much to ask for from Powers. She could not even wait two more weeks, when such criticism might not be so politically charged, to go on the offensive against what is represented as her own Party.

Can there be any doubt that this issue will be compounded on the air in the very near future as she appears to offer the "Democratic perspective" on FOX News? And won't she almost certainly be joined in that endeavor by Greta Van Susteren offering up another Sarah Palin PR segment sometime that night?

And isn't that the whole point?
