Now Neil Cavuto is Talking About Killing

Reported by Melanie - October 21, 2008 -

On October 15, John Murtha (D-PA), said: "There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area." Ever since, Fox's "business news" anchor, Neil Cavuto, has been doing his best to drum up a firestorm about it. Yesterday Murtha gave him fresh meat when he tried to clarify his statement, but only made matters worse when he said the area is "redneck." Though Cavuto hasn't covered any — not one — of the verbal gaffs Republicans have made recently (Michelle Bachmann anyone?), he obviously considers this extremely important as he built a segment around it on his "business news" show today (October 21, 2008).

UPDATE/9:31 p.m.

Cavuto's guest was Kevin Miller, a radio talk show host from Pittsburgh who said this is "great for us" because it "blew up the phone lines once again." Miller then started whining about how if a Republican said the same thing, the (liberal) media would be all over it.

Again, having ignored the hate and violence that has surrounded Palin/McCain McCain/Palin rallies of late, Cavuto made this outrageous statement: "When I, ah, it is amazing to me Kevin. I do look at the general media coverage of slights or gaffes by candidates and this is nowhere in any of these publications, or it's buried or it's aside or it's a little cryptic note within a story, if it's covered at all. Yet man-o-man, I think that if anyone on the right had said anything approaching this he'd be tarred, feathered and shot. I don't know in what order."

Here it is:

Comment: Undoubtedly, if questioned, Cavuto would say he was kidding or it was just a figure of speech but again, given the violence (link above) and threats of violence ("Kill him!") emanating from the right these days, I don't think this is at all funny, particularly in light of the fact that Cavuto's crowd is the one actually talking about killing people, not Democrats and/or the left. Maybe he's projecting.

UPDATE: Oops. Looks like McCain agrees with Murtha: McCain Accidentally Agrees: Western Pennsylvania Is Racist. You can be sure, absolutely positively sure, that Cavuto will not report this tomorrow. If he does, surely he'll suggest that someone might shoot McCain too, right? If so, I'll let you know and I'll eat my words for all the world to see.
