Bill O'Reilly Suggests Barney Frank Attack Was Political Theater
Reported by Deborah - October 8, 2008 -
Last night, 10/7, while discussing debate tactics with Karl Rove, O'Reilly strongly suggested that his attack on Barney Frank was an act. He told Rove, who seemed to have strong feelings about the Frank episode, that he "had to do it." video
O'Reilly conceded to Rove that the segment with Barney Frank was over the top.
"I didn't want to do that. It doesn't make me look good to yell at a sitting congressman."
Then he suggested that it was a performance designed to give viewers a "face", a "villain" to blame for the financial crisis.
" I had to hold him accountable... It was a face. It was a villain. It was personal."
Then he added that John McCain needs to do the same thing to Barack Obama. during the debate. The tension between Rove and O'Reilly was apparent especially when O'Reilly made a joke and Rove didn't respond. Maybe O'Reilly was trying to save face by assuring Rove that his temper tantrum was planned and not simply a loss of control. Watch the video and make the call for yourself.
