FOX News Hosts Sneer At Biden In Post-Debate Analysis, Laud McCain

Reported by Ellen - September 27, 2008 -

As part of FOX News' post-debate analysis last night (9/26/08), Chris Wallace interviewed vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden. McCain representative Lindsay Graham came first, not surprisingly. Graham's interview lasted about four minutes. Biden's was a little more than three. But while Graham's interview ended on a respectful, almost fawning note, Biden's ended with both Wallace and host Brit Hume making snide jokes about him. With video.

As the video below shows, Wallace closes Graham's interview by saying, “Well, I have to tell you Brit, before we came to us here on camera, I had the sense that Lindsey Graham – in fact, he said it's the best he's ever seen John McCain. I think the McCain camp is very happy tonight. Their view of their man's performance.”

Hume responded, “I certainly sense that as well, Chris.”

At the end of Biden's interview, Wallace asked, for “a 30 second answer” about what Biden learned from the presidential debate that would help him in his upcoming debate with Sarah Palin.

Biden answered, “Well, I learned, at least I hope that she makes the same arguments John McCain made.”

Wallace asked, “Are you going to have trouble not being condescending to her and pointing out you've been to all these places and she hasn't?” And if that isn't being condescending, I don't know what is.

But Biden had a great answer. “No, no, no. I'm not going to do what John did.”

Wallace laughed. “You're not going to do what John did. Alright. That's a good answer. That's also, perhaps the way to run the campaign in the debates, sir.”

Then, after Wallace turned it over to Hume, Hume got in his own jab at Biden. “Chris, thank you. Thanks also to Senator Biden. You asked him to be brief. He was. There are people who say that that doesn't always happen. We appreciate it.”
