Neil Cavuto Hits the Bigtime - Keith Olbermann Names him Worst Person in the World

Reported by Melanie - September 22, 2008 -

You know Neil Cavuto right? He's the head of "business news" at the Fox "News" Channel and at the Fox" Business" Network. He's the one who begs you to watch his show. Yeah. That's him. Anyway, Keith Olbermann put Cavuto at the top of his worst persons list tonight (September 22, 2008) for this racist remark Cavuto made on Your World on September 18:

Did you warn or express concern about any things that happened? I'm not saying that one or the other is beyond blame, I'm just saying I don't remember a clarion call that said Fannie and Freddie are a disaster. Loaning to minorities and risky folks is a disaster? Maybe if you said it, enlighten me.

Here's video:

This occurred during a segment with guest Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA), during which Cavuto was trying to blame Democrats for the Wall Street mess (which he did today too).

Becerra responded to this now-famous clip with:

Neil. Neil. Neil. Absolutely. Absolutely we did. If you look at the record, and if you want to have me on again soon I can bring you a record of time after time when members of congress pointed out to the then-Republican majority that deregulating too many of these industries was going to cause this mismanagement and reckless abandon activity that we now see by a lot of these money changers. And so, absolutely, congress was alerted by members of congress about what would happen if we stopped the oversight responsibilities that congress has so absolutely, that's the case, and if you want to have me back I could bring you that evidence.

Cavuto: "I look forward to that congressman."

Comment: Too bad Becerra didn't call Cavuto out on this immediately. We need Democrats who'll do that kind of thing. Oh, and I'll follow up on whether Cavuto has Becerra on again to talk about the evidence that's on the record, ah, insofar as Cavuto's "looking forward to that" and all. And hopefully, before long, I'll have time to put together a montage of Cavuto accusing Democrats, ahem, of waging class warfare.

UPDATE 9/23 - Sometimes you wonder where the righties get their wild accusations, like Cavuto's, that "loaning to minorities and risky folks is a disaster." Then, bingo, you realize that they looked in the mirror — they did what they're accusing Democrats of doing — and it all makes sense.
