Palin won't cooperate with Troopergate after all - what is she afraid of?

Reported by Chrish - September 16, 2008 -

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow was all over it, so I checked the FOX News website to find their spin on Sarah Palin's refusal to cooperate with investigators in the Alaskan Troopergate scandal. (You'll recall that Palin has consistently said she would cooperate, seeming to want to get the scandal behind her.) It took a little looking but at the bottom of the Politics page there are links to the Washington Times, two AP "articles" about the obstruction. (They are identical, with different headlines. Looks like more coverage than it really is.)

Of course, the McCain camp is crying that the investigation is being tainted by nasty Democrats, ignoring that the Republcan-dominated bipartisan legislative committee voted unanimously to explore a possibly unjust firing and abuse of her gubernatorial office. The linked AP articles puts forth a few defensive points for Palin, and repeats that the investigation is allegedly politically motivated (despite the aforementioned Republican majority.)

If Palin has nothing to hide, she should talk to and cooperate fully with investigators and silence her doubters. And if McCain truly believes in open and transparent government, this is a no-brainer - he should encourage her to do it and get this distraction (if that is all it is) behind them.

We fully expect FOX News to have Palin's back.
