Fair And Balanced? Four Conservatives Analyze Palin, Liberal And Conservative Discuss Obama

Reported by Ellen - August 30, 2008 -

Last night's (8/29/08) Hannity & Colmes once again proved that FOX News has a rather unusual concept of "fair and balanced." Four conservatives got segments to themselves to discuss Senator John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin for vice president but the lone Democratic guest, who appeared much later in the program, was "balanced" by a Republican while discussing Barack Obama's record-breaking, history-making speech the night before.

The lineup went like this: Jack Kemp, Dr. James Dobson, Dick Morris and Mike Huckabee all got segments to themselves to discuss Palin, though Alan Colmes discussed Obama's speech with Morris part of the time. Dobson got two segments.

But the segment devoted to Obama followed the others, occurred near the end of the program, and came with a panel consisting of Democrat Bob Beckel and Republican Kate Obenshain.

The teaser was a perfect example of a Cavuto mark. Sean Hannity, obviously reading from a teleprompter, said, "Senator Barack Obama: he tried to make his case to more than 75,000 supporters during his nomination acceptance speech last night but was it enough or was it just slogans and bumper stickers and platitudes and liberal cliches? Our panel will weigh in, coming up next." Video is below.
