FOX News Airs Ad It Claimed Not To Want To Air – Again

Reported by Ellen - August 23, 2008 -

Despite the fact that FOX News says it has declined to air an attack ad against Barack Obama featuring his ties to former 60’s radical William Ayers, much of the ad was played on Thursday night’s (8/21/08) Hannity & Colmes, presented as news about the campaign. Sean Hannity never told the audience that FOX News had declined to run the ad. As Deborah has posted, FOX also aired the ad “accidentally” at least one other time. This makes two times, that we know of, that an ad supposedly rejected by FOX News made it onto the air. With video.

The ad’s sponsor, American Issues Project, had hoped to run the ad on FOX News. FOX News has, at least as far as I know, not explained why it has declined the ad.

I wonder how many more free showings this "unwanted" ad will get on FOX News.

By the way, it's not clear to me that FOX News deliberately clipped the ad when it ran it at the beginning of the Hannity & Colmes segment. It looked as though the ad had been rolling prematurely or maybe the show's break went overtime on my satellite system. The video below begins exactly where the segment began.
