Fox Lets John Kyl Lie About John McCain's Record on Offshore Drilling

Reported by Melanie - June 25, 2008 -

Staunch John McCain supporter, John Kyl (R-AZ) was on Your World w/Neil Cavuto today (June 25, 2008) in a segment captioned, "McCain Labels Obama 'Dr. No' for Shooting Down Energy Plan." Kyl was on to expand on the "Dr. No" label, which was leveled in a new McCain campaign ad. (Undoubtedly, the McCain camp is grateful to the in-kind contribution Fox made when Fox played the entire thing.❊)

Anyway, substitute host Alexis Glick didn't say a word when Kyl lied about McCain's record on offshore drilling: "John McCain has never opposed drilling offshore."

Wrong Kyl. According to Dana Milbank, "During his last run for the presidency, in 1999, McCain supported the drilling moratorium, and he scolded the "special interests in Washington" that sought offshore drilling leases. Yesterday, he announced that those very same "moratoria should be lifted" and proposed incentives for the states "in the form of tangible financial rewards, if the states decide to lift those moratoriums."

Comment: Maybe Cavuto will mention this in his Common Sense segment tomorrow and correct the record. Huh? Ya think?

❊ Anyone who sees (and can prove that it happened) Fox play an entire Obama ad slamming John McCain between the hours of 7:00 a.m. ET and 11:00 p.m. ET, Monday - Friday, gratis, i.e., during the body of a segment (not as part of an ad package paid for by the Obama campaign) wins a copy of Outfoxed. This offer is good until midnight ET, November 3, 2008.
