Dick Morris' two cents on Clinton comment

Reported by Chrish - May 27, 2008 -

Wow. Dick Morris appeared on FOX and Friends this morning 5/28/08 to discuss the taboo violation of Hillary Clinton's remarks about Robert Kennedy's assassination occurring in June. Apparently always at the back of Morris' mind is the threat of Obama being assassinated, and he projects that onto "everybody."

I tuned in a few random times, over the long weekend, to see what the talkig heads were filling their weekend with, and saw many segments discussing the horror of not the assassination or the fact that it happened in America but that Clinton dared mention it - even as a calendar reference, which is clearly all it was.

Morris, in his own words: "How many times have I been on FOX News? (Waaaaay too many - ch) Every time I go on, every time It alk about Obama, in the back of my mind, in the back of everybody's mind, is the idea that this young, promising, vibrant, charismatic guy, first African-American with a shot at being President, could be in physical danger. And you don't talk about it. You don't mention it. You don't say it. Because if you say it, there's a better chance that it will happen. And I think that Hillary was just outrageous in making that comment."

Morris joined Keith Olbermann in overblown rhetoric and misplaced outrage over her "irresponsible" comment, wilfully ignoring that she was making a reference to a primary season that went into June. Morris piled on, saying this showed Clinton is "internally" unethical and this incident will rule her out as a VP choice.

This is another manufactured media flap that conveniently filled a long boring news weekend. We know this because it is at least the third time she's used the historical reference and yet only now are the pundits in a frenzy. She said, at a DC fundraiser May 7th, “If you look at successful presidential campaigns, my husband didn’t get the nomination until June of 1992. I remember, tragically, Senator Kennedy won California near the end of that process,” and in a March 6th interview with TIME Magazine she said

"I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June, also in California. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual. We will see how it unfolds as we go forward over the next three to four months."

So unwad your panties already.

NOT mentioned by Morris or anyone else was the completely unacceptable and far more serious wishful thinking of Liz Trotta, who laughed with FOX host Erci Shawn as she hoped for the murders of Osama bin Laden AND Barack Obama, a wanted terrorist/mass murderer and the leading nominee of the political party she opposes.
