Sir William O'Reilly gallant with the fair maidens

Reported by Chrish - May 13, 2008 -

Bill O'Reilly claimed, after his interview with Hillary Clinton, that " I have to worry about what the audience thinks. I treat women a little different. The lines are different." He reiterated that view last night 5/12/08 when he told his two female guests that he went easy on them because they're women. They were not pleased.
With video.

The segment was with Democratic political consultant Tanya Acker and right-wing radio host Tammy Bruce. At one point the two argued and overtalked so nothing could be heard, and O'Reilly tried "one at a time" and "hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it" to no avail, and finally said "Tanya, knock it off," giving Bruce the last word. After she had the final criticism of the "Democrat Party" he admonished them for talking over each other, and said (pointing with two index fingers) "Now if you were men I would have scolded you harder. I want everybody to know, I go easier on the ladies, that's just the kind of guy I am."

What a bunch of hooey. He cut the microphone on US Army Colonel Ann Wright as she challenged his (lack of) military service; likewise he cut the mic and video, bidding her adieu, on guest Robin Swanson when she wouldn't answer yes or no to his interrogation. He's repeatedly shouted down Professor Jane Hall (who, regrettably, keeps coming back for more.)

So why would he say that? He's been under fire from his right-wing fans for not being tough enough on Hillary Clinton and defended himself, as noted above, by claiming chivalry. As with all things O'Reilly, it just ain't so.
