FOX Campaigns for John McCain with Swiftboat Supporter

Reported by Deborah - May 8, 2008 -

Carl Cameron's interview with Col. George "Bud" Day was aired today on Fox's Election HQ. Day spent over two years with John McCain in the "Hanoi Hilton" and told Cameron a very moving account of an experience with McCain when they were prisoners of war. Day also supported the Swiftboater campaign to destroy John Kerry in 2004.

Day, shown in the clip using a walker with some difficulty, told Cameron how John McCain helped him regain use of his hands by straightening his curled and useless fingers against the cell wall. On the day he first regained feeling in his fingers, Day told Cameron, "We both cried". It was also noted that McCain set his own arm which was then broken again by the prison guards.

Here is a letter written by Day in 2004 and sent to Joe Scarborough expressing his support for John O'Neil's efforts to bring down John Kerry acknowledging that John McCain denounced the Swiftboat video.

"My friend and room mate Senator John S. McCain denounced the Swiftboat video by John O'Neil. I have a different take on the Swiftboat tape and disagree with my good friend John."

They then showed a clip previewing Bill O'Reilly's interview with McCain tonight. It was very brief showing a very unimpressive McCain denouncing any raise in taxes in a time of war.

comment: It looks like Karl Rove who claims he's not sure he would qualify as McCain's adviser has been busy.
