O'Reilly hammers Clinton's Bosnia statements

Reported by Chrish - March 25, 2008 -

O'Reilly's Talking Points Memo tonight 3/25/08 was mainly devoted to Hillary Clinton's remarks about a trip to Bosnia and subsequent retraction . He brought up another gaffe from the past (that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary, who was not famous for scaling Mt. Everest until she was 6 years old) to establish a pattern of lies. Omigod, a politician who stretches the truth?

"Tonight I want to take a few minutes to discuss a grave threat to peace and America's determination to lead the world in confronting that threat.

The threat comes from Iraq.

[...]

Knowing these realities, America must not ignore the threat gathering against us. Facing clear evidence of peril, we cannot wait for the final proof -- the smoking gun -- that could come in the form of a mushroom cloud."

I don't recall continuous daylong harping about a more meaningful, destructive lie. If the lies were covered proportionally, the media should still be talking about Bush's all day, every day. I wish.

Contradicting what he complained about in last night's TPM,

"Now you would think a possible compound fracture of the Democratic Party would be a huge story, but to quote John Belushi, "Noooooo."
O'Reilly stated that the press "jumped all over" the story March 17th, reinforcing the theory that his complaint last night was just his clumsy way of segueing into a condemnation of Washington Post editor Leonard Downie Jr, who allowed a story that criticized the big BOR.

O'Reilly cited - are you ready for this? - callers to his radio show this afternoon who say this Bosnia mistake (or lie or whatever) is concerning because it speaks to her credibility and honesty. "Talking Points," his pseudonym, thinks there's something to that.

Too bad they aren't so easily convinced that their beloved C-in-C has some honesty and credibility issues.
