Outrageous Quote of the Week 1/19/08

Reported by Chrish - January 20, 2008 -

Last week Bill O'Reilly won for yet another whopper from the alternate universe where he is undeniably king, saying "Unlike other networks, we are not rooting for anyone, and we bring scrutiny to all." This week's candidates are after the jump:

Option A: "The majority of military bases in this country are named after Confederate officers (such as) Eisenhower, Nimitz." Ann Coulter, "proving" that the Confederate flag is not a symbol of racism but a commemoration of southern history, Hannity & Colmes, 1/18/08

Option B: "The economy is phenomenal. Where have you been living?" Sean Hannity, responding to Alan Colmes' statement that the economy has not been doing so well lately, Hannity & Colmes, 1/17/08

Option C: "Have you heard about this new thing going on in Great Britain, [where] Al Qaeda [is] rooting up all these Britons, essentially, 1400 strong, apparently, in a new, what's being called a new 'White al Qaeda Army.' Tougher to detect, potentially ..."

"Yeah, because they're not Muslims, they look just like regular British people." Gretchen Carlson and Steve Doocy, FOX and Friends, 1/14/08

Option D: "If they can recruit a Scandinavian, that's the holy grail for them. They need people who can move around freely and do their bidding," Mike Baker on Al Qaeda recruiting, FOX and Friends, 1/14/08

Option E: "If The [New York] Times can't take an argument with Kristol, how can it face down Al Qaeda? Oh, that's right — The Times would say Al Qaeda is not our job. And there you have it. When it comes to newspapers, the Bush doctrine still rings true: You're either for us or against us." John Gibson, Big Story, 1/16/08

It's really not fair to have everyone else competing with a guy who makes outrageous statements for (ratings) a living, so in the future, to give the other wingnuts a shot at the prize, we're going to give Bill O-for-Outrageous Reilly his own niche. Stay tuned!
