FOX News anti-Ron Paul bias shows itself again

Reported by Chrish - January 8, 2008 -

Libertarian Underground reports "Fox News Editing Ron Paul out of AP News Stories." This is amazing.

Amended, below, 1/8/08 11pm

First, the International Herald Tribune reported

"Don't forget Wyoming.

It's been overlooked in the hoopla surrounding Thursday's Iowa caucuses and next week's New Hampshire primary, but Wyoming Republicans will caucus Saturday and choose delegates to the national convention in September.

Candidates have paid little attention to the state, though.

Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul have passed through since September. Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain have not."

" Don’t forget about Wyoming.

The blogger at Libertarian Underground wrote

"First Fox blatantly left Paul out of the New Hampshire round table debate, and now this. Could they be any further from "fair and balanced"? It's amazing that I once considered Fox to be less biased, or at least biased more in my direction. It turns out that if you deviate from their party line at all - that is, the neoconservative Republican establishment (a relatively recent turn for Republicans) - all pretense of journalistic objectivity goes straight out the window."

Well well well, the word is getting out. Welcome to our world, all you real conservatives and Libertarians - welcome!

Amend: Following up on a comment and a gmail that said FOX merely used an earlier release, I contacted former News Hound Judy, who was a reporter for 25 years, and asked her if AP did indeed issue updates, is it s.o.p. for publications to update their story too? She answered that Yes, they should update their stories as later AP stories come out. They don't have to run the AP stories verbatim. They can edit them if they want to, also.

So it looks like FOX posted an earlier article that omitted Congressman Paul, but failed to update the article when his name was added to a later AP release. Whether it's an oversight or a conscious decision we can't know, but it is not unreasonable to assume the latter given their treatment of him in the Republican forum in New Hampshire.
