Fox Wonders if Hillary's Age is the Reason She's Losing in New Hampshire -- No Mention of 71 Year Old John McCain

Reported by Melanie - January 7, 2008 -

One of the three (yes three) segments Fox's "business news" guy, Neil Cavuto aired today (January 7, 2008) bashing Hillary Clinton, asked whether her age is the reason she's losing in New Hampshire. I know that John McCain's poll numbers are up, depending on the poll that is, but there was absolutely no mention of his 71 year old self because if there had been, Fox's BS premise would have fallen flat on its face.

Cavuto's guest was "Democratic strategist" Keli Goff (I've never seen her before. How many Democratic and Republican "strategists" are there in this world anyway? Can anyone be a "strategist"? Just wondering.) Cavuto introduced Goff with,

Pushing for younger voters, the Clinton campaign putting Chelsea Clinton in the spotlight today. The former first daughter making calls for her mom in New Hampshire. We've seen it time and again on the campaign trail. Senator Barack Obama surrounding himself with the young, Hillary Clinton surrounding herself with, let's just say, the older. He won the vote in Iowa. He could very well win it tomorrow in New Hampshire. So is age the reason why Hillary Clinton is losing?

With that, a very articulate and enthusiastic Goff said Barack Obama looks "like a rock star" and attracts young people with his enthusiasm. She pointed out that at Clinton's concession speech in Iowa, she was surrounded by the likes of Madeline Albright, Wesley Clark, and Bill Clinton, "the cocoon society," as Cavuto called it. Goff said young people "get involved when they get inspired to get involved."

Comment: Goff sounded more like an Obama strategist than a "Democratic strategist" but I guess that's just me. Anyway, over the weekend I saw McCain on C-Span making a campaign speech in NH. Seated behind him were approximately nine gray-haired men, the youngest of whom was probably 65. McCain seems to be doing fine despite his age (he'll look 100 years old when put up against Obama though) so come on with this "age" stuff Fox. It's nothing more than a ruse to bash Hillary.
