A FOX News Alert during FOX and Friends announced that Trent Lott (R-MS) will be resigning from the US Senate, possibly before year's end. Developing.
Lott is the sixth Republican Senator to announce his retirement this year. By resigning before year's end he will not be subject to new lobbying rules instituted by the current Congress that require Congresspersons to wait two years before they can go through the "revolving door" to the lucrative world of Washington lobbying.
