Terrorism to trump abortion as overriding issue for far-right

Reported by Chrish - November 15, 2007 -

Far-right loon Pat Robertson, who has endorsed the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, said God brought on Ariel Sharon's stroke, and blamed a large chunk of America for bringing on the the 9-11 attacks, has endorsed FOX's candidate, Rudy Giuliani, for the Republican presidential nomination. Isn't this akin to getting Fred Phelps' support?
With video.

Ellen reported in detail on Robertson's appearance on Hannity and Colmes last night and a short clip was played on FOX and Friends this morning 11/15/07.

The clip conveniently voiced the Republican talking point that the main issue in this election (as it has been, you'll recall, in 2004 and 2006) is defense against terrorism or more specifically for the Christian right, Islamic terrorism. IF "the bad guys" set off a nuke in one of our major cities it'll overshadow everything else, he said. With that simple statement he leads the flock to overlook or un-prioritize their anti-choice stance of 30 years and to accept pro-choice Giuliani, a message that has been and will be repeated in myriad ways on FOX as they continue to put their mighty weight behind Roger Ailes long-time pal, all the while blatantly ignoring the lawsuit by former News Corp employee Judith Regan that has huge political implications for Guiliani.

The Friends all reiterated the point that although they disagree on social issues, Robertson ("the Reverend") will back Giuliani because it all comes down to terror. It was a short short segment, another "drip" in the Rudy pool.
