FOX Friends pander to religious anti-science crowd

Reported by Chrish - November 15, 2007 -

Apparently the Governor of Georgia, Sonny Perdue, has called for Georgians to pray for rain because they are suffering from a severe drought, with some areas lagging 17" to 21" in average annual rainfall. A religious leader and State Representative Melvin Everson (R) appeared on FOX and Friends this morning 11/15/07 claiming that their prayer vigil at the state capitol resulted in an inch of rainfall the following day.

To believe that your incantations have influenced planetary weather patterns is well within the province of extremism yet FOX chose to give these "true believers" a national platform for over three minutes to praise the Governor for his cooperation and support, and to proselytize their Christian beliefs .

Of course this brings up the issue of comingling issues of church and state. FOX Friends did not address the issue in a critical manner; in fact, Steve Doocy mentioned that some people opposed the public prayer beforehand, but didn't follow up, instead pointing to the inch of rain the following day and asking the preacher "Coincidence?"
