Scripted propaganda on FOX and Friends
Reported by Chrish - November 12, 2007 -
Gretchen Carlson said once that she doesn't go by anyone else's script, "we receive our talking points from our own heads," but evidence from this morning's FOX and Friends casts doubt on that claim.
Kelly McCann of Kroll Security appeared as a guest, and as in his previous appearances that I've seen the "interview" was entirely scripted. McCann gives it away every time by answering one question and then prompting the next "Friend" to feed him his next question, which he readily admits he has prepared for.
The subject of the "interview" was the LAPD's recent foray into "Muslim mapping," a practice that is being called racial profiling by the ACLU. McCann and Friends disparage that idea and agree that while the term "mapping" might not be the best choice of words, the intent is to establish a network so that in the event of trouble (terrorism) local law has a starting point for investigating.
As is almost always on this program, the discussion was one-sided, promoting the hard-right Bush administration talking points. And seeing how closely it was scripted one can only characterize it as right-wing propaganda.
And just how ironic is it that, on a program riddled with disparaging references to Hillary Clinton's campaign "planting" a question in an Iowa stop, a major segment on a news item is so carefully "planted" itself?
