Al Gore wins Nobel Peace Prize; FOX and Friends ignores

Reported by Chrish - October 12, 2007 -

Save for an 18-second mention in the opening headlines on FOX and Friends this morning 10/12/07, no mention was made of Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize in the show's first hour.

In the second hour the win was reported, but only as an opening into a segment covering (and misrepresenting, as did John Gibson yesterday) a judge's decision, in the UK, to require that guidance notes be amended to acknowledge that Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth "promotes a political point of view."

The global-warming bashers (gwb, hmmmm), rather than applaud the win and congratulate a fellow American, used the opportunity to bash the film, associate Gore with Yassar Arafat and perpetual FOX-target Jimmy Carter, and assert that Gore and Mohammed Al-Baradei, the head of the IAEA and winner in 2005, are "anti-Bush." They proceeded to broadly refute the Oscar-winning documentary and Brian Kilmeade even voiced doubts that the planet is warming. Gretchen Carlson and Steve Doocy assured him it is but said the debate is over whether it's man-made or just part of a normal cycle. Sadly, that represents progress in conservatives' thinking.

It was a disgraceful moment, even for FOX. They should be ashamed at playing the parts of Roger Ailes political pawns to such an extent that they can't even report such an honor without turning it into a partisan hack job.
