4 Top Republicans Will Not Appear At African American College For Republican Debate

Reported by Donna - September 27, 2007 -

Today on Studio B with Shepard Smith they had a segment on about 4 top presidential Republican candidates being no shows at a historically African American college tonight. Of course Carl Cameron had an excuse for it.

It seems that the top 4 prominent (they mentioned Mitt Romney, John McCain and Fred Thompson) Republican Presidentia contenders were not showing up tonight at Morgan State University, an historically African American college. Shepard Smith said that African Americans are cying that Republicans do not want to be around people of color.

Carl Cameron tried to make light of the story saying that's not the reason at all. He said that Republican candidates had to be out raising money, that there was little time left to do it for the third quarter. He did add that some Republicans are worried this is going to hurt them. So he said it was more of a "scheduling thing."

Comments: Fox tries to play down and use excuses for the 4 top Republican candidates but the Republicans also passed up on Loraza, one at the National Hispanic Organization, one on the Hispanic Television Network, another at the NAACP and one at the Urban League, so it looks like a pattern here of not showing up at minority debates.

And the Democratic Debate that took place last night? Not one mention on Studio B.
