Bill O'Reilly Fearing Democratic Victory Resurrects George Soros

Reported by Deborah - September 22, 2007 -

Bill O'Reilly's weekly column revealed his concern that there could be a victory for Democrats in 2008 unless Republicans used some of his tactics to influence voters. Last night he used two of his suggested techniques in his TPM and, as always, thought we wouldn't notice. 9/22/07

O'Reilly seemed concerned by Newt Gingrich's prediction for 2008.

"Newt Gingrich, one of the most partisan Republicans in the nation, says there's an 80% chance the Democrats will win the White House in 2008. Gingrich believes the country feels let down by the Bush administration over Iraq, Katrina, illegal immigration, and enormous federal spending. The former Speaker of the House says the folks want change, and that could very well mean Hillary in the White House."

O'Reilly had some suggestions for Republicans that might divert voter's focus from the dismal failure of the Republican Party and this Administration.

"Also, the far left is totally out of control in this country, and a smart Republican candidate will tie those loons around the necks of Hillary or Barack Obama. Few Americans want to see Rosie O'Donnell and George Soros spending the night in the Lincoln bedroom. "

O'Reilly followed through immediatly devoting his TPM to George Soros and his ties to Moveon. He even claimed Soros was behind the Moveon ad citing an editorial in Investor's Business Daily.

Media Matter responded to this editorial. Here is their summary below and you can read the full response here.

"Summary: An Investor's Business Daily editorial, reprinted on CNNMoney.com, claimed that George Soros "has financed spin outfits such as Media Matters that specialize in providing distorted conservative political statements as grist for leftist politicians and media." The editorial also claimed that Media Matters "succeeded last year in denying incumbent [Sen. Joseph] Lieberman the Democratic nomination for Senate in Connecticut." In fact, Soros has never given money to Media Matters, and Media Matters does not participate or intervene in political campaigns."

BOR also claimed that voters did not like Hillary Clinton's evasiveness about the Moveon Ad suggesting that Republicans should play that up as well.

"Senator Clinton has a penchant for not answering direct questions and avoiding the non-partisan media. Twice she was asked if the MoveOn.org Petraeus ad was appropriate. Twice she dodged the issue. I believe many voters will find her evasiveness off-putting."

Sure enough, O'Reilly sent his traveling show to ambush Democratic Senators to ask them about their vote to condemn Moveon. Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Harry Reid didn't stop when the producer called out to them in the parking lot which enabled BOR to claim their evasiveness.

O'Reilly ended his column with on an optimistic note for Republicans suggesting that " stuff can and will happen" to change the course of the election.

"So Speaker Gingrich is correct in listing the Democrats as the favorites in this crucial upcoming election. But, for the moment, the smart money is holding out. Stuff can and will happen. Hillary shouldn't be buying that inaugural gown just yet."

comment: Bill O'Reilly and FOX News should know that this time we're paying close attention to every trick they try and this time, they're not getting away with anything.
