The Lads at "The Chaser" in Quite a Pickle. Arrested and Charged After Breaching APEC Security in Sydney.

Reported by Marie Therese - September 7, 2007 -

The hilarious gents from "The Chaser's War on Everything," Australia's deliciously irreverent comedy show, have gone and done it again! Two of the stars - one of whom was disguised (badly) as Osama bin Laden - managed to breach Sydney, Australia's multi-million dollar security web to get within meters of President George Bush, who had just flown in for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit meeting (APEC). In a desperate move to save face, the Australian government arrested the 11 people involved. Thursday afternoon (9-6-07) during Special Report, FOX News' Brit Hume and Bret Baier declined to mention the name of the show or the comedians. The only reference came during a rebroadcast of an Australian news report, when the words THE CHASER appeared on screen. Australians would have understood the reference but most Americans would not. With video.

"The Chaser'" set the stage the day before their APEC prank with this clip from the September 5th show.

As FOX News' Bret Baier reported, Australians are not at all happy about the massive security crackdown, put in place to protect the American President while he meets with Asian leaders, especially the President of China Hu Jintao. Bush felt the heat during an exchange with an Australian reporter.

Naturally FOX could not let the report go by without a dig at Australia's very vocal anti-war movement. After making a remark about how security forces outnumbered the protesters, Baier could not resist airing this little bit of T&A:

What Baier neglected to tell the FOX viewers is that 15,000+ activists are expected to gather in Sydney on Saturday to protest Bush and his policies in the Middle East.

Two of The Chaser's mainstays - Chas Licciardello and Julian Morrow - managed to penetrate the costly security perimeter until finally apprehended in front of the President's hotel. According to news reports, the only reason they were caught is that Licciardello, dressed as Osama bin Laden, actually got out of the car.

Here's FOX News' take on the whole thing with Keith Olbermann's added, just to be "fair and balanced"!
