Bill O'Reilly's Throne Is Teetering

Reported by Deborah - September 6, 2007 -

Bill O'Reilly had Bernie Goldberg and Jane Hall on The Factor to talk about Katie Couric's future on CBS, so he claimed, but he really wanted to talk about himself. After the trio had an obligatory chat about Kouric's chances for survival, BOR shifted focus to his own ratings which he claimed just couldn't be better. He told Bernie and Jane that if all three of his time slots were added together, his ratings would almost beat Couric and Williams.

O'Reilly confided his concerns to his ever faithful media cheerleaders, Bernie and Jane. " I get angry that the newspaper industry is so dishonest." Claiming he crushes the competition day after day he proclaimed, " On Tuesday we more than tripled MSNBC in the same time slot."

According to the Neilsen Ratings for Tuesday 9/4/07 and Wednesday 9/5/07 that doesn't seem to be the case. On Tuesday, the 24 to 54 demographic ratings at 8 PM were O'Reilly 440 and Olbermann 367 which is a little too close for Bill-O's comfort. The total household Neilsen for that timeslot looked better for the teetering King who recieved 2384 to Olbermann's 814. However, even those numbers don't indicate " more than triple" like Bill claimed.

However, if you take a look at the 11 PM slot where O'Reilly competes against an MSNBC Special, the total household numbers do indeed triple MSNBC's. Bill never said he tripled Olbermann's numbers, now did he? What a relief! He still beat MSNBC and in the end, isn't that all that really matters.
