Lunacy 101: Stu Bykofsky Suggests That Another 9-11 Attack Would Bring Us All Together!
Reported by Marie Therese - August 10, 2007 -
Now I've heard everything! This morning on FOX & Friends, the trio of hosts discussed an unbelievable column written by Stu Bykofsky in the Philadelphia Daily News. Entitled "To Save America, we need another 9-11", Bykofsky suggests that another terrorist attack would help to heal the the great divide in America. Can you say "crazy as a loon"? With video.
Bykofsky is well-known in the Philadelphia area as a very conservative and eccentric gossip columnist with a sharp wit. He routinely digs up dirt on athletes, celebrities, etc. and is a darling in neoconservative circles. He has written for the News since 1987.
The FOX & Friends crew was at a loss, it seemed, about how to proceed on this one. The only one to really dismiss his ideas was Alisyn Camerota.
I got the distinct impression that in this column the avuncular Bykofsky might have revealed a deep, dark secret of the right-wing.
Is it possible that in the face of the disaster that is Iraq and a stock market that is careening out of control, a great many conservatives yearn for the "good old days" when we were all on the same side and Americans felt a kinship with each other?
How many Republicans go to bed at night thinking exactly what Bykofsky has written? How many liberals have expressed their fear that just such an event could be manufactured?
Perhaps in a mixed-up way, Bykofsky has taken an idea that's been lurking in the shadows and exposed it to the light of day. It's now out there for debate and analysis.
Should be interesting to see how the rest of the FOX pundits handle this story!
