Gibson gloats over Democrats expanding Bush wiretapping powers

Reported by Chrish - August 6, 2007 -

There's no denying that a lot of Democratic voters are furious about the rushed vote that on Saturday expanded Bush's powers to eavesdrop and monitor communications. But John Gibson spun it in his My Word segment today 8/6/07 to appear that Democrats were admitting that their objections to the so-called "terrorist surveillance program" were a mistake.

The "program" has been repeatedly, dutifully, and dishonestly represented on FOX, even over the concerns of FOX Senior Juddicial Analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano. When the NSA admitted they were collecting data on tens of millions of calls between Americans, the ruse was over, except for those living in America's 51st state, Denial.

The mad rush to pass the expanded warrantless domestic spying powers before the recess should have reminded everyone of the similar rush to pass the so-called USA Patriot Act, which has opened the door for civil rights abuses and expanded executive powers. Democrats who supported the passage of the adorably-named Protect America Act are

Gibson wants to know where have the cries for impeachment over the illegal warrantless wiretapping gone? The Democrats elected to protect us from enemies within have caved, and Gibson concluded that they "admitted wiretapping keeps Americans safe, just as Bush said." Except, with a green light to wiretap and mine and listen in all given the veneer of legality, do you really feel safer?
