Wall-to-wall bridge coverage on Big Story too

Reported by Chrish - August 2, 2007 -

As expected, The Big Story today 8/2/07 was entirely about the bridge collapse in Minnesota. There were interviews with engineers, interviews with authorities from different local , state and federal agencies, interviews with survivors, interviews with medical personnel, interviews with witnesses, interviews with rescuers, and an interview with a spokesman from the Minnesota Twins.

A long-running chyron during the coverage read "Bush: Gov't must make sure bridge gets rebuilt quickly." Which government, local, state, or federal, wasn't specified, and one wonders if the people of Minnesota will get more/better/faster aid than the Katrina victims, who today lost a court decision that would make insurance companies pay for damages caused by the infrastructure failure there. One could wonder, also, if any urgency will be forthcoming to replace the bridge in time to accommodate the Republican National Convention next year.

Of course this IS a big story, certainly more newsworthy than Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan, so this wall-to-wall coverage was fully expected.
