Breaking News: London Police Thwart Terrorist Attack

Reported by Marie Therese - June 29, 2007 -

Several hours ago, a Mercedes loaded with 60 liters of gasoline and various metal projectiles (nails, nuts, bolts) was crashed into a pole in front of a very popular London nightclub (Tiger, Tiger) in the Haymarket district. In an amazing bit of serendipity, London police were on scene, having been called to the club to deal with a customer who was taken ill. An observant bystander alerted them to the fact that the car was smoking. Upon further inspection, they discovered that it had been rigged as a very crude, low-tech IED (improvised explosive device). The bomb has since been diffused. The threat level has not been changed in London. Naturally, FOX's trio of hosts used this incident to repeat the usual right-wing talking points, i.e. prisoners should be held without charge for a long time, Al Qaeda is lurking behind every corner, the Spanish were cowards after the Madrid bombings, etc. With video.

Here's a sample of the non-stop coverage on this morning's FOX & Friends.
