Fox Begins its Assault on Angelina Jolie

Reported by Melanie - June 14, 2007 -

Last night, at the New York premiere of her new film, A Mighty Heart, Angelina Jolie allegedly tried to "censor journalists" and ban Fox News "from the red carpet and any other premiere access." Predictably, Fox is lashing out.

Roger Friedman, one of Fox's entertainment reporters (er, "journalists" (see below)) and the person it sent to the premiere, posted this on Fox's website today and Neil Cavuto appeared to kick off the bashing on Fox television this afternoon.

During the "Fox Stox" segment -- which, made obvious by its name, is allegedly about stocks -- Cavuto said,

Fox has paid Angelina Jolie millions of dollars for film projects over the years but that didn't stop Jolie from trying to ban Fox News journalists from covering the premiere of A Mighty Heart, her latest movie. Go figure.

Comment: I have problems with what Jolie did but I have to laugh at Cavuto for reducing this issue down to it being a matter of Jolie being beholden to Fox. Shoot the messenger but above all, do not get into a discussion about why Jolie might not want Fox around.
