Holy news, batman!

Reported by Chrish - May 31, 2007 -

I've just heard the third religious reference in news delivery tonight 5/31/07 on FOX. Is this appropriate for a professional news organization?

On The Big Story John Gibson, announcing the arrest of Robert Soloway, said "The man known as the "Spam King" has been, thank the Lord, arrested."

On The O'Reilly Factor, the host speaking with Press Secretary and former FOX employee Tony Snow, said "Good luck on the fight, the health fight, and everyone is praying for you." to which Snow replied "God bless, Bill.Thanks."

I have no problem with the sentiments. But you'd think out of respect for the diversity of the audience they presumably broadcast to, the hosts would leave their piety out of their delivery and save it for their private, off-air exchanges.

Atheists are considered the bottom of the barrel by those most loyal to Bush and FOX and I doubt that people who choose reason over faith are watching FOX, but still, shouldn't they pretend? To be fair and balanced?
