FOX Swiftboats John Edwards By Distorting His Memorial Day Message

Reported by Deborah - May 28, 2007 -

John Kasich, in for Bill O'Reilly, said he was " hoppin mad " because John Edwards was telling people on his website to attend parades and protest the war on Memorial Day. Kasich clearly told viewers that Edwards was not supporting the troops by encouraging people to speak out against the war. However, Kasich severely distorted the truth about Edwards' message and Phil Kent, Republican strategist, supported his misinformation. Juan Williams, although defending Edwards, did not expose the disgraceful distortion.

Here's the Memorial Day message posted on John Edwards site.

"Today, Elizabeth and I offer up our prayers in memory of all those who have fallen for America, and our hearts go out to their families. We honor all the brave men and women in uniform who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Because of their courage, our country is safer. Because of their dedication to the causes of liberty and justice, our country remains the land of the free. And because of their sacrifice, we are a stronger nation and a stronger people. We honor these heroes especially on this day, but every day we should remember the sacrifice they made to protect our freedom."

Kasich accused Edwards of lacking " decency" and wondered how the families would feel if their Memorial Day Parades were marred by Edwards' protestors. He gave the distinct impression that Edwards had filled his website with directives to disrespect our troops and country.

Here's what John Edwards had planned for today which was titled. Support The Troops. End The War. A weekend of Activities.

Juan Williams, did not openly defend Edwards, but strongly defended the Ameerican right to dissent. He even brought up George Bush using the military as props with the Mission Accomplished stunt. Kasich replied, " He made a price for that. It wasn't on Memorial Day." Williams continued a rousing debate with Kasich yet never mentioned that Edwards' message had been distorted and his patriotism questioned unfairly.

Phil Kent just did the usual stuff bringing up Moveon.org and accusing Williams and Edwards of using " left wing cliches". He just wanted to draw some blood from Edwards and he didn't care if he spoke the truth to do it.

comment: Unfortunately, they got their message out and how many viewers bothered to check out John Edwards website to get the real truth. Obviously, Edwards is the candidate FOX fears the most and this vicious campaign against him will continue.
