Shooting Over Playstation One Of The Top Stories On Fox While The Pentagon Telling 35,000 Troops To Get Ready For Iraq Deployment Isn't Mentioned

Reported by Donna - May 8, 2007 -

Today on Studio B with Trace Gallagher substituting for Shepard Smith time was allotted to the Fresno State shooter who shot three people over a Sony Playstation with one person being killed. They had a 3 minute segment on this then included a 7 minute press conference on it.

Now spending 10 minutes of your hour news program on one story is quite extraordinary. This means it is an important national story, which, of course, it wasn't.

What wasn't covered on Studio B today? The fact that the Pentagon has called up 35,000 soldiers to prepare to deploy. Of course days can go by without Studio B mentioning the war in Iraq. Why report on the war in Iraq anymore? There's nothing but bad news and Fox can't risk this type of news for this administration.

Comments: Typical fluff and weather on Studio B though they did cover the press conference on arrests for alleged terrorists against Fort Dix which was discovered by a sales clerk. The point is that Studio B likes to stick to the fluff and avoids the news of the war in Iraq at all costs. Seems to me that 35,000 troops being deployed to Iraq is an important national story, more important than a shooting over a Sony Playstation.
