The Same Day Jessica Lynch Testifies About the Government's Lies, Fox "News" Repeats Them

Reported by Melanie - April 24, 2007 -

I think it's fair to say that the details surrounding how the government lied about Pat Tillman's death have been more widely publicized than have the details about how the government lied about the "dramatic rescue" of Jessica Lynch. Given how Fox News covered those two issues today (April 24, 2007) during Fox News Live w/Jane Skinner, I think it's also fair to say that Fox would like to keep it that way, thank you very much.

Several minutes into her "nothing but the news" show, Skinner reported on the hearing taking place today before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform during which both Pat Tillman's brother, Kevin, and Jessica Lynch testified.

Here's what Skinner said:

Well, lawmakers on Capitol Hill are taking a closer look at the Army's handling of the death of Pat Tillman. He, of course, is the former NFL player who was killed in Afghanistan in 2004. His family first was told that he was gunned down as he fought off the enemy. Later they learned he died in a friendly fire incident. His brother, also a soldier, testified today and accused the U.S. military of 'intentional falsehoods and deliberate and careful misrepresentations.'

Skinner went to a clip of Kevin Tillman's testimony and then she returned with,

The panel also has been hearing from former Army Pvt. Jessica Lynch. She said she's trying to set the record straight about her dramatic rescue from Iraq.

Comment: One of strongest points Lynch made today was that the "dramatic rescue" itself was one of the government's lies, yet a Fox "News anchor" promoted and repeated it. Apparently Fox thinks George is in enough trouble as it is.
