No Mention Of Alberto Gonzales Hearings On Hannity & Colmes

Reported by Ellen - April 20, 2007 -

Hannity & Colmes spent the full hour last night (4/19/07) discussing the Virginia Tech shootings. While it might be possible that FOX News was so genuinely caught up in the tragedy that it wanted to focus on nothing else, there’s no such excuse for Harris Faulkner to have avoided it during her news break at the half hour.

The stories Faulkner did cover were: Senator Harry Reid saying that the Iraq war is lost if US follows President Bush’s path; a Tennessee preacher’s wife found guilty in the shooting death of her husband; New Hampshire’s governor saying he’ll sign a bill allowing civil unions for same sex couples; new anti-racism rules for the European Union.

Gee, do you think a five-hour hearing during which Gonzales fell back on his faulty memory 71 times, was challenged by skeptical Republicans and Democrats, in which one Republican Senator (Coburn) called for his resignation and after which another (Sessions) said “it's going to be difficult for him to be an effective leader,” (all of which AP reported) might be at least as newsworthy as a guilty plea from a preacher’s wife?

Needless to say, there was nothing mentioned about Representative John Doolittle’s sudden resignation from the powerful House Appropriations Committee one day after he claimed to have nothing to do with an FBI investigation into his wife's buiness.
