Fox News Alert - Rumsfeld Can't Be Tried For Torture

Reported by Donna - March 27, 2007 -

There was a Fox News Alert today (one of the many) on Studio B about Donald Rumsfeld. It seems that he cannot be tried on allegations of torture in overseas military prisons. The banner read 'A federal judge dismisses torture and human rights case against Rumsfeld.'

The lawsuit was brought on behalf of 9 former prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan. The federal judge said that Rumsfeld cannot be held personally responsible for actions taken in connection with his government job. The lawsuit contends the prisoners were beaten, suspended upside down from the ceiling by chains, urinated on, shocked, sexually humilated, burned, locked inside boxes and subjected to mock executions.

Smith said that the lawsuit against Rumsfeld, "Cannot go on and that's the breaking news now."

Comment: So that's the legal ruling - you can't be held personally responsible for actions taken in connection with your government job.
