Carlson: Mrs. Giuliani's 'Secret' Marriage 'Not a Big Deal'

Reported by Judy - March 23, 2007 -

On Fox News, whether something is a "big deal" or not varies with the political affiliation of the individual involved. Consider the fact that Sen. Barack Obama's mother was married to a Muslim when Obama was 5 years old. That's huuuuge, as Fox News' Steve Doocy said. But the fact that Republican Rudy Giuliani's wife never revealed the fact that she had a third marriage no one knew about? Not so huge. With video.

The co-hosts of "Fox and Friends" discussed Mrs. Giuliani's hitherto-never-revealed third marriage Friday (March 23, 2007) in two segments but primarily dismissed the information. Apparently, having six marriages between them will be of no consequence to the "family values" voters of the Republican Party.

"It's not a big deal," said co-host Gretchen Carlson. "It's not like she's hid some secret past life."

Co-host Doocy apparently forgot his signature line and instead focused on Mrs. Giuliani's "revelations" about the former New York mayor. "She does also reveal that her husband, Rudy Giuliani, has a set of morals and values. He's not a waffler and he gets stuff done." An unbiased source if I ever heard one.

The third news stooge, Brian Kilmeade, also revealed Giuliani to be, not a flip-flopper, but just a guy who has "changed his stance a little bit on gun control and supports now the right to bear arms. When he was mayor of New York, he had a difference stance, so to speak. ... So he's coming to the center on a lot of issues where some thought he was to the left."

Or some might think he is pandering to the right, rather than coming to the center.

Funny how the news stooges' vocabulary expands when they talk about Republicans vs. Democrats.
