Hey, Here Are Two New Blogs Fox Wants You to Know About

Reported by Melanie - February 22, 2007 -

Your World w/Neil Cavuto was slow today (February 22, 2007). The five FOX NEWS ALERTS to "update" the audience on the Anna Nicole Smith case took a lot of time as did live coverage of a press conference held by the parties to the case and a rehash of it all by a Fox reporter and by Fox's Andrew Napolitano.

Nonetheless, I thought I would bring you some "news" from the show: Info about two new blogs that Fox thought were so worthwhile that their proprietors each got a full segment's worth of promotion from Cavuto.

The first was AppealForCourage.org, launched on February 12 by Lt. Jason Nichols, USN, who was Cavuto's guest. Nichols opened AppealForCourage to counter AppealForRedress.org. More power to Nichols but this line on his homepage is concerning:

This Appeal for Redress provides a way in which individual service members can appeal to Congress to fully support us and actively oppose media attacks on our mission and our morale.

From that I take it that Nichols wants Congress to legislate what the media can and cannot say. That from someone who I presume believes he is fighting to protect our way of life, our democracy, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

The second blog, introduced by guest Tim Montgomerie, was 18DoughtyStreet.com. Cavuto didn't talk about the blog as a whole very much, nor did he tell his audience that Montgomerie has contributed articles to the Weekly Standard, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Cavuto concentrated instead on a new "advert" launched by 18DoughtyStreet titled, A World Without America. The promo for the video says:

At a time of rampant anti-Americanism this ad - produced with BritainAndAmerica.com - aims to remind the world of the great economic, technological and political benefits that the US has brought to the world.

Comment: As usual, watching Your World today was crazymaking. On the one hand you had Cavuto hyping a blog that calls for censorship of our free press and on the other hand he hyped a blog that touts the greatness of the United States. Maybe that's what they mean by "fair and balanced."
