On Fox: Does Hillary Get Paid Senator Pay While Running For President?

Reported by Donna - January 29, 2007 -

Everyday on Fox On Line with Bill Hemmer they have a segment called BYA, Because You Asked. Today's question was on Hillary Clinton.

The question was from Ruth in Nashville and asked, "Just saw on Fox News that (Senator) Hillary Cinton is off to raise money for her presidential run. My question is: while she is not performing her duties in Washington as senator, does she or any other candidate still receive senatorial pay?" (Comment: Notice that no Republicans are mentioned)

Hemmer said she was just one of several candidates running for president and he showed pictures of six candidates and most of them were Democrats and of course the Democrats were in the forefront of the list.

He had Rich Lowry, Editor of the National Review on who said that the money doesn't stop, they still get their checks. He brought up John Kerry who ran during the 2004 campaign missing 60 to 80 percent of the votes on the senate floor. He didn't mention any Republican senators.

He said that a lot of people would like it if the Senate or all of Washington would grind to a halt as there would be less damage to the country. (Comment: In another obvious dig at the Democratic Senate and Congress)

Comment: Another unfair and unbalanced report from Fox. Even though they showed the picture of both Democratic and Republican candidates the question focused on Senator Clinton and Lowry brought up Kerry and dissed the Democratic Senate and Congress. Even when they're not blatant, Fox gets their message through.
